About Shawna
My Story in Pottawattamie County
I’m a mother, grandmother, and small business owner who has lived, worked, and served across Pottawattamie County for decades. I’m running for Pottawattamie County Supervisor to protect local families, land, water, and county resources with steady, practical leadership.
A local voice for Pottawattamie County families
My husband and I bought our first home in Council Bluffs in 2000, and I have owned and operated a salon in Council Bluffs since 2009. Through that business, I have built relationships with clients from Council Bluffs, small towns, and unincorporated parts of the county, giving me a direct understanding of the concerns families bring into everyday conversation.
After leaving Council Bluffs, my family moved outside Oakland in 2007, where we still live today. That experience has given me a grounded view of both the urban and rural sides of Pottawattamie County, from neighborhood services and small-business needs to rural infrastructure, schools, and emergency response.
I believe county government should stay focused on the people who live here: protecting property rights, safeguarding water, treating county employees fairly, and making careful use of taxpayer dollars.
Why I’m running
I’m running to bring accountability, respect, and common sense to county government, while standing up for residents who want their voices heard across Pottawattamie County.
Community Involvement
Showing up for neighbors before asking for their vote
My campaign did not start with a mailing list. It grew out of real community work: volunteering at local rescue events, meeting with residents, and showing up in advocacy spaces when county families needed a stronger voice.
I have been active with Concerned Citizens of Pottawattamie County since 2020 and have attended nearly every Board of Supervisors meeting in person since 2021. I have also helped organize town halls on county issues and budgeting and assisted with a Board of Supervisors candidate forum so residents could hear directly from the people seeking to represent them.
These moments reflect the kind of leadership I want to bring to this race: accessible, practical, rooted in service, and committed to transparency.
Working for You Before Election Day
I have already been showing up for Pottawattamie County residents by attending meetings, speaking up, helping organize public conversations, and working on issues that affect everyday people. This campaign is built on the same kind of local involvement and follow-through.
