I’m a mother, grandmother, and small business owner in rural Pottawattamie County, Iowa. Long before I became a candidate, I was showing up. Since 2021, I’ve attended nearly every Board of Supervisors meeting in person as a resident because I care about this county and believe good decisions start with listening, learning, and understanding how local government affects the people who live here. I listen to neighbors with different views, learn from them, and work toward practical decisions that make life better for everyone who calls this county home.

I was the top vote-getter among County Supervisor candidates in the June 2 primary, earning 3,650 votes and 53.73% in my race. I’m grateful for every resident who took time to vote, talk, share concerns, and help move this campaign toward November.

County government works best when leaders listen to more than one side. I’m proud to have support from people across the political spectrum because this work affects everyday life: protecting property rights, safeguarding water, respecting county employees, and making decisions in the open.

Thank you to everyone who came out for trivia, tacos, and an afternoon of support in Oakland. The “Can You Guess Who?” game was all about guessing whether each clue was about Shawna or Angela, and the turnout helped build real momentum for my campaign heading toward November.
