Protect Property Rights
No eminent domain for private gain. Property owners should not be forced to give up land so private companies can profit.
Candidate Overview
Shawna Anderson is a mother, grandmother, and small business owner who has lived, worked, and served across Pottawattamie County, Iowa for decades. She is running for Pottawattamie County Supervisor to protect local families, defend property rights, safeguard water resources, support county employees, and bring accountability to county government.
Shawna and her husband bought their first home in Council Bluffs in 2000, and since 2009 she has owned and operated a salon there. Her work has connected her with residents from across the county, giving her firsthand insight into the concerns of families, workers, retirees, and small-business owners.
Since 2007, her family has lived outside Oakland. Because she has lived and worked in both Council Bluffs and rural Pottawattamie County, Shawna brings a balanced perspective that reflects the full county, not just one corner of it.
Too many residents feel unheard when decisions affect their land, water, taxes, and daily lives. Shawna is running to bring accountability, common sense, and respect back to county government.
In the Community
Shawna has been volunteering, meeting with neighbors, and showing up in advocacy spaces across the community well before asking voters to support her for County Supervisor.
She has been active with Concerned Citizens of Pottawattamie County since 2020, has attended nearly every Board of Supervisors meeting in person since 2021, and has helped organize town halls and a candidate forum on county issues.
No eminent domain for private gain. Property owners should not be forced to give up land so private companies can profit.
Water is one of our most important resources. Shawna supports responsible planning and transparency to protect safe drinking water.
County employees deserve fair treatment, support, and professional leadership from those elected to serve.
Local government should budget carefully, focus on real needs, and make decisions in the open. Shawna supports responsible budgeting and greater transparency so residents can trust how county money is being used.
If Pottawattamie County is going to grow, it needs housing that young people and working families can actually afford.
Strong communities are built when people can live here, stay here, and build their future here.
Residents across Pottawattamie County can support Shawna’s campaign by volunteering, requesting a yard sign, donating, and sharing the campaign with friends and neighbors.
